Sayenko Kharenko’s antitrust team has provided legal assistance in merger clearance with the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (the “AMC”) for EUR 654 million acquisition of Swissport, Inc., the world’s leading provider of ground handling services to the airline sector, by PAI partners, the renowned Europe-based private equity group. Swissport is acquired in full from its present owner Ferrovial.
The acquisition confirms PAI partners’ interest in the growing aviation sector. The sale will have no impact on Swissport’s current clients or its personnel. The new arrangements will ensure Swissport’s further growth and success.
PAI partners is one of Europe’s most reputed and experienced private equity companies, with operations in Paris, Copenhagen, London, Luxembourg, Madrid, Milan and Munich.
Swissport, Inc. provides ground services for over 70 million passengers and 2.8 million tonnes of cargo a year on behalf of some 650 client companies. Swissport is active at 177 airports in 38 countries on five continents.
After examining the proposed transaction, the AMC has concluded that its implementation poses no threat to competition nor significantly limits competition on any product market in Ukraine.
Sayenko Kharenko’s competition team for the current transaction included counsel Dmitry Taranyk and associate Maksym Nazarenko, led by partner Vladimir Sayenko.
