Sayenko Kharenko’s counsel spoke at the round table “Lustration: international experience and prospects in Ukraine”

Leonid Antonenko, counsel with Sayenko Kharenko, spoke at the round table “Lustration: international experience and prospects in Ukraine”, held on 11 September in Kyiv.

The event was held under the auspices of the USAID Fair Justice project and Open Dialogue Fund and gathered deputies – authors of the draft law "On cleansing the authorities", experts of the specialized parliamentary committees, international experts, as well as a wide range of public members. During the meeting, the participants learned about the experience of other neighboring countries regarding the lustration of public officers and judges, discussed the state of affairs in the country with the cleansing of the public authorities. Following the meeting, the recommendations for the successful implementation of the lustration policy in Ukraine will be developed.

In his presentation, Leonid Antonenko covered the topic of the effective use of lustration for cleansing the authorities from corruption, based on the draft law "On Lustration in Ukraine" № 4678-1, developed earlier this year by Leonid.

Mr. Antonenko is a member of the Committee on Corporate Governance, Equity Securities Issue and Turnover and Advisory Board of the Commission on Corporate Governance of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission (NSSMC) and is actively involved in projects aimed at the development of the Ukrainian legislation. He regularly contributes to forming up a rule-of-law state and legal culture in society, in particular under the auspices of such professional organizations as the Ukrainian Bar Association (UBA) and the European Business Association (EBA).
