Sayenko Kharenko supports development of competition legislation in Ukraine

Sayenko Kharenko for the fouth time supported the IV Competition Forum of Ukraine (the “Forum”), held on 20-21 November 2014 in Kyiv and hosted by the EuroLawyer company.

The Forum has already become one of the major professional events in the country, bringing together practitioners in the field of competition law from Ukraine and abroad, as well as representatives of business and the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (the “AMCU”).

Vladimir Sayenko, partner at Sayenko Kharenko, moderated the panel devoted to one of the most complicated antitrust issues – cartel investigations. Vladimir has been practicing law since 1994 and is named one of the top two competition lawyers in Ukraine according to Ukrainian Law Firms 2014 (Yuridicheskaya Practika Publishing). Vladimir is a member of the Non-commercial Partnership “Supporting Competition in the CIS Countries”.

Dmitry Taranyk, Sayenko Kharenko’s counsel, spoke in the panel devoted to the introduction of European standards regulating the protection of economic competition in Ukraine. In his presentation, Dmitry highlighted some amendments to the competition laws, which are mostly expected by both local and international companies. Some of those amendments may be adopted only by the Ukrainian Parliament. However, as Dmitry emphasized, the rest of them may be introduced by the AMCU itself. Mr. Taranyk is recognized among leading lawyers in competition by Ukrainian Law Firms 2014, Chambers Europe 2014, Best Lawyers International 2014, and The International Who's Who of Competition Lawyers 2014.
