Sayenko Kharenko Counsel held discussion of Arbitration in times of International Conflicts

In late May, 2015 Sayenko Kharenko Arbitration practice co-head and Vice-President of the Polish-Ukrainian Chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club (CEA) Olena Perepelynska supported a conference hosted in Warsaw, set up to facilitate expert discussion re international arbitration issues in times of international conflicts. Ms. Perepelynska took part in concept and program elaboration and moderated the panel discussion of the conference.

During International commercial arbitration panel, the participants discussed various issues including non-performance of contracts due to international/armed conflicts and civil unrest; EU and US sanctions as a defense to non-performance of legal obligations, and impact of territorial changes on the law applicable to the contractual relationship between the parties.

The participants of the conference included reputed arbitration practitioners from top tier law firms, including Clifford Chance, Cohausz & Florack, Dechert, Freshfields, K&L Gates, Luther, Sayenko Kharenko, Wilmer Hale and Winston & Strawn.

The conference was attended by more than 50 guests and got many positive feedbacks from its participants.

The conference “Arbitration in Times of International Conflicts” was organized by the Polish-Ukrainian Chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club in co-operation with the Lewiatan Court of Arbitration and the Institute of Legal Studies of the Polish Academy of Science and was associated with the International Conference for Promoting Arbitration 2015 Dispute Resolution in M&A/JV Transactions.
