Sayenko Kharenko to discuss new arbitration challenges at times of international conflicts

Sayenko Kharenko is delighted to be supporting the Conference "Arbitration in Times of International Conflicts", which will be hosted in Warsaw on 27 May.

Given the present geopolitical context and recent threatening cases involving e.g. Crimea, Timor Leste, Kosovo and the activities of the IS, arbitration practitioners face a plenty of theoretical and practical issues relating to international arbitration which will be discussed by the world’s most reputed arbitration lawyers during the conference.

"For Ukraine the topic is really hot: annexation of the Crimea in 2014, still pending  military operations in the Eastern Ukraine affected many foreign investments and business operations in the country and raised many interesting issues from investment treaty and commercial arbitration perspective", – comments Olena Perepelynska, a counsel with Sayenko Kharenko and co-head of its International Arbitration practice, who contributed to shaping the event concept and will moderate the commercial arbitration panel  discussion.

The event will gather globally recognized arbitration practitioners from top tier law firms, including Clifford Chance, Cohausz & Florack, Dechert, Freshfields, K&L Gates, Luther, Sayenko Kharenko, WilmerHale and Winston & Strawnwho will share their insights into the topical issues of international treaty arbitration and international commercial arbitration as speakers and moderators of the conference: Gary Born, Dr. Richard Happ, Boris Kasolowsky, Maria Kostytska, Bartosz Kru?ewski, Olena Perepelynska, Dr. Wojciech Sadowski, Erik Schaefer, Prof. Eduardo Silva Romero.

The conference is organized by the Polish-Ukrainian Chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club in co-operation with the Lewiatan Court of Arbitration and the Institute of Legal Studies of the Polish Academy of Science and is associated with the International Conference for Promoting Arbitration 2015 Dispute Resolution in M&A/JV Transactions, which is taking place on 28–29 May 2015.
