Mediation Practices Club is ready to welcome new members

On 11 September 2013, a meeting of the Mediation Practices Club under the auspices of the Ukrainian Mediation Center (Kiev-Mohyla Business School) was held. The meeting gathered Galina Yeremenko and Vladimir Marukhevich, representatives of the Ukrainian Mediation Center, Alexey Ivanov, managing partner of Konnov & Sozanovsky, Svitlana Kheda, counsel of Sayenko Kharenko, Elena Tkachenko, partner of Paritet, and Elena Sapozhkova, managing partner of S. K. O. Forum. The process of accepting new members became the main topic on the meeting’s agenda.

Considering the Club’s goals and objectives, the participants of the meeting defined the main criteria for accepting new members. A candidate is required to hold a law degree and a certificate proving that he/she is trained as a mediator. Two references from the current members would be a plus. The meeting participants also decided on that associate members may also participate in the Club.

The members’ selection process will have several stages. A specially designed application or a CV will be used for the primary acquaintance with a candidate to enable the existing Club members to assess the candidate’s credentials, experience, and motives for joining the Club. More specific information may be provided during personal communication during an open meeting of the Club.

The Mediation Practices Club members agreed that the level of qualification of a particular member of the Club may affect reputation and success of other members and the Club in general. The Club’s goal is to unite the most talented and active professionals in the field. Law firms employees, in-house lawyers, private legal practitioners – all of them may become members of the Club if they satisfy the established membership requirements.
