Pavlo Kovalchuk, Senior Associate at Sayenko Kharenko, has been elected to the International Trademark Association (INTA) Internet Committee for the 2022–2023 term.
The Internet Committee develops and advocates the INTA’s policy regarding the balanced protection of trademarks on the Internet. The Committee will focus primarily on policy development and compliance issues at the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) with regard to the trademarks’ use in the domain name system. This includes active and vocal participation in working groups and drafting public comments.
In addition to ICANN policy, the committee will monitor developments in other global internet governance initiatives, social media, mobile applications, and other technical platforms, while providing subject matter expertise to the relevant INTA committees and staff. Work includes proposing policy recommendations to the Board, report and submission writing, project development and advocacy as required.
The International Trademark Association (INTA) is a global association of brand owners and professionals dedicated to supporting trademarks and related intellectual property (IP) in order to foster consumer trust, economic growth, and innovation. Members include nearly 6,500 organisations, representing more than 34,350 individuals (trademark owners, professionals, and academics) from 185 countries who benefit from the INTA’s global trademark resources, policy development, education and training, and international network. This year, more than 3,900 member volunteers applied to serve on INTA committees.
