Sayenko Kharenko acted as Ukrainian legal counsel to Citibank on the acquisition of the ING’s securities and custody services business in seven Central and Eastern European (“CEE”) markets currently representing EUR 110 billion in assets under custody.
The transaction includes ING’s local custody and securities services businesses in Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia.
The acquisition enables Citi to offer investors, intermediaries and issuers comprehensive securities services in the region through a strengthened country presence combined with access to Citi’s global banking network.
Citi, the leading global bank, has approximately 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 160 countries and jurisdictions, including Ukraine.
Sayenko Kharenko’s team for the current transaction included senior associate Iryna Bakina and was led by partner Nazar Chernyavsky with partner Vladimir Sayenko and counsel Dmitry Taranyk providing legal advice on antitrust issues.
