Sayenko Kharenko advises IFC on EUR 66 million risk-sharing facility for UKRSIBBANK to support Ukrainian corporates

Sayenko Kharenko acted as Ukrainian legal counsel to the International Finance Corporation (IFC) on the EUR 66 million risk-sharing facility for UKRSIBBANK. IFC will share half the risk on an aggregate portfolio of EUR 66 million to be extended to address the critical financing needs of medium-sized and larger corporates (midcaps) in sectors such as agribusiness, manufacturing, trade, and logistics.

IFC’s participation is supported by a partial guarantee from the government of France. The United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office is providing additional financial support to incentivise midcaps to undertake new longer-term and more sustainable initiatives.

The IFC’s investment in UKRSIBBANK marks its sixth risk-sharing investment in the country since russia’s invasion of Ukraine and is expected to enable around USD 100 million in new lending to midcaps. Overall, IFC’s risk-sharing facility programme in Ukraine is expected to generate approximately USD 1 billion in new financing for smaller businesses and midcaps.

IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets. In fiscal year 2024, IFC committed a record USD 56 billion to private companies and financial institutions in developing countries.

Sayenko Kharenko’s team was led by Igor Lozenko and included Oles Trachuk, Mykola Suprunovych and Danylo Dashko.
