Sayenko Kharenko advises on the Trade Finance Deal of the Year

Sayenko Kharenko provided legal advice on Ukrainian law issues to Landesbank Berlin AG (“Landesbank Berlin”) on over EUR 107 million export financing for the purchase and installation of 30 wind energy turbines by “WIND POWER” LLC (“WIND POWER”), the “green energy” segment of DTEK, Ukraine’s largest energy company.

The turbines will constitute the first phase of the Botievo wind park with the projected electricity generation capacity of up to 200 MW to be located in the coastal area of the Zaporozhye region. The project is scheduled to be competed in the fourth quarter of 2012.

The transaction was recognized “Deal of the Year 2012” according to the Trade Finance Magazine.

Sayenko Kharenko has substantial experience working on transactions involving major companies in the natural resources and energy sector of Ukraine (including Cadogan Petroleum, Contour Global, DTEK, Ferrexpo, Mercuria Energy Group Ltd, JKX, Naftogaz, Regal Petroleum, MND Exploration and Production, TNK-BP, Ukrtransnafta etc.).
