Sayenko Kharenko helps keep the music playing

This autumn Kyiv will host one of the major international classical music festivals “Days of music of Myroslav Skoryk”. For a whole month the Ukrainian audience will be getting a taste of Myroslav Skoryk’s diverse and impressive oeuvre at Kyiv’s four major music halls (the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, the National Opera house of Ukraine, the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine and the Ukrainian National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music). The Maestro’s music often draws from the rich well of the Ukrainian folklore and is widely performed in the world’s most famous venues: La Scala, Carnegie Hall, Wigmore Hall, Suntory Hall, Gran Teatre del Liceu and other most renowned opera houses and concert halls all over the world.

The list of participants and hosts of the festival demonstrates its extraordinary significance both for stronger international branding of Ukraine and developing world art of music. The festival is supported by the embassies of Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, Russia, USA and Switzerland, the National Union of Composers of Ukraine as well as a number of major Ukrainian and foreign companies.

Among the festival highlights will be Yuri Bashmet (alto, Russia), Viktor Tretiakov (violin, Russia), Yuri Kharenko (violin, USA), Oleg Kaskiv (violin, Switzerland), Dmitry Onishchenko (piano, Russia), Sergey Magera (bass, Ukraine), Fahraddin Kerimov (Azerbaijan), Raymond Jansenn (the Netherlands), Mykola Dyadyura (Ukraine) and Volodymyr Sirenko (Ukraine).

Myroslav Skoryk is an art director of the National Opera house of Ukraine. He is the winner of the prestigious Shevchenko Prize and holds the titles “People’s Artist of Ukraine” and “Hero of Ukraine”. He is also an academician of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine, a professor of the Ukraine National Academy of Music and Lviv State Academy of Music and an honorary co-chair of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine.
