Sayenko Kharenko has secured an impressive four shortlistings at The Lawyer European Awards 2025 across Europe’s most prestigious legal excellence awards.  

The firm demonstrates remarkable expertise across Europe’s challenging legal markets, securing shortlistings in all four categories where it applied: 

• European energy transition of the year – Recognised for advising on the EUR 450 million expansion of DTEK Tyligulska windfarm, the largest private-sector investment in Ukraine since Russia’s full-scale invasion 

• European corporate team of the year – Acknowledged for excellence in complex M&A transactions, namely advising PJSC UKRNAFTA on acquiring a 51% stake in Shell’s gas station network in Ukraine 

• European finance team of the year – Recognised for sophisticated financial restructuring, notably advising the Ad Hoc Committee of Bondholders on Ukraine’s USD 20.5 billion sovereign debt restructuring

The DTEK wind farm financing represents not only the largest private investment in Ukraine since 2022 but also demonstrates the international financial community’s confidence in Ukraine’s renewable energy future. The sovereign debt restructuring – involving approximately USD 24 billion with accrued interest – has created USD 22.8 billion in savings for Ukraine through 2033, directly supporting the country’s economic stability.
