Sayenko Kharenko wins the second in a row CEE Legal Matters Deal of the Year award for Ukraine

Sayenko Kharenko won the CEE Legal Matters Deal of the Year award for Ukraine at 2019 Deal of the Year Awards Banquet on 28 March 2019 in Budapest for the firm’s work on SALIC’s 2018 Acquisition of Mriya Agro Holding.

“The significance of that deal was, ultimately, impossible for the two tiers of voters to ignore, and Sayenko Kharenko obviously played a fundamental role in making it happen,” said CEE Legal Matters Executive Editor David Stuckey. “We were pleased that the voters recognized the deal’s significance, and delighted to have Anton Korobeynikov from the firm at the event and able to accept it in person.”

Partner Anton Korobeynikov, who represented Sayenko Kharenko at the ceremony, comments: “We are excited and grateful for this award. The sale of Mriya Agro Holding’s Ukrainian farming assets to SALIC crowned over three years of hard work on the restructuring of the group’s legacy debt and sale preparations. That makes the deal itself, as well as the key roles played by group’s management, financial and legal advisors, and supporting creditors, all worthy of recognition. We would like to thank David Stuckey and the CEE Legal Matters team for an amazing ceremony, friendly atmosphere and beautiful venue. We now look forward to next year’s event.”
The Sayenko Kharenko team working on the deal included lawyers from the Banking and Finance, Corporate, Bankruptcy and Debt Restructuring, Litigation and Competition Practices. Partners primary responsible for the project were Anton Korobeynikov and Alina Plyushch.

Finalists for the prestigious and peer-selected CEE Deal of the Year Awards were selected by a panel of highly-regarded private practitioners in each country, with winners determined by a second group of prominent legal experts from across Central and Eastern Europe. Deals submitted for consideration were signed in the 2018 calendar year, and the panels based their determinations on deal complexity, market (and regional) significance, and value, among other factors.

More information about the awards and a complete list of winners can be found on the CEE Legal Matters website, here.
